Does Your Brand Need a Plan for Threads? Probably.

Across the world, consumers are watching the Threads x Twitter cage match to see who'll be the winner. But in brand marketing, the rise of yet another social platform has us talking instead about pressure - to participate, experiment and commit to more.


So, here's a question for consumer brands, membership organizations and nonprofits: Can social media and community management make or break your retention marketing strategy? The short answer is YES.


Sprout Social, Inc. recently reported that 76% of U.S. consumers expect brands to respond with lightning speed when resolving customer service issues – within 24 hours on social platforms, to be exact.

In 2023, it’s not enough to just be on the platforms. Building communications strategies, bona fide engagement playbooks and escalation plans for Threads, TikTok, Instagram and others can put your MarComm team at ease — and empower them to respond quickly when issues, complaints or trolls pop up in your DMs or comments.


So, does your brand need a plan for Threads? Probably. Before you ask your social media manager to hop on the platform and stay there, make a real plan together. (And TBH, your plan may be to watch and wait. The platform is barely two months old and is already struggling to keep users engaged.)
